After a Twitter engineer claimed that WhatsApp had been using his microphone while he was asleep, Elon Musk stated that the instant messaging app is not reliable. The engineer also shared a screenshot of an Android dashboard to substantiate his allegations. In response to the tweet, Musk expressed that the platform cannot be trusted. Despite this, the CEO of Twitter plans to introduce voice and video calls, similar to WhatsApp, on their platform.
A Twitter engineer by the name of Foad Dabiri claimed that WhatsApp had been utilizing his device’s microphone. Dabiri shared a screenshot of an Android dashboard on Twitter, which indicated that the app had been accessing his microphone from 4:20 am to 6:53 am while he was asleep.
Dabiri expressed his concerns on Twitter by stating, “WhatsApp has been using the microphone in the background while I was asleep, and this is just a part of the timeline since I woke up at 6 AM! What is happening?”
